  • System Requirements

The installers contain all the formats (VST, RTAS, AAX, Stand Alone, and AudioUnit on Mac). But you can personalise installation, and choose to install only the formats necessary for you.

  • The plugins cannot be installed. What should I do ?

If you own earlier versions of GRM Tools, it is possible that installation will not take place correctly. In this case, you can manually uninstall (on a PC), erase or move the previous versions :

    Mac :

    • RTAS : Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins
    • VST : Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/GRM
    • Audio Units : Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

Validation

  • How are the GRM Tools protected ?

GRM Tools plugins use iLok for the protection and license management.
You must create an account on the iLok website and download iLok License Manager  to manage your licenses and your key. You can move your license on your computer or on a 2nd generation or newer iLok key.

  • Is the iLok dongle required for GRM Tools ?

The iLok dongle is no longer required to use GRM Tools. GRM Tools licenses can be either moved on the computer or on an iLok dongle. Use the iLok Licenses Manager to manage your licenses and your iLok dongles.
  • How can I create an iLok account ?

Go to the iLok site and click on the "Create Free Account" link. Then fill in the required fields. User ID and Password are extremely important, as they will enable you to connect up to the iLok website and manage your validations.

  • How can I validate GRM Tools ?

When you made your purchase, you received an activation code:

             1111-2222-3333-4444-5555-6666-7777-88

    • Launch iLok License Manager and identify yourself
    • Select "Redeem Activation Code" in the "Licenses" menu
    • Copy the activation code
    • Drag the generated license on an iLok key or on your computer icon displayed on the left column

General

  • What are the differences between the demo versions and the full versions ?

A certain number of functions are de-activated in the demo versions :

    • automation
    • agitation
    • save and restore
    • midi control
    • reduction in the number of channels of the multi-channel outputs

A sound cut-out also occurs periodically.

The demo versions can be used without an iLok validation.

  • Are GRM Tools multi-channel ?

Multi-channel is supported by AAX, RTAS and AU formats and VST with some sequencers. The multi-channel outputs are only available for certain plugins :

    • Delays
    • Doppler
    • Freeze
    • Reson
    • Shuffling
    • Fusion

and all  plugins of the Spaces bundle

  • Why are the mono and stereo versions separated in VST ?

The mono and stereo versions of each plugin are considered as different plugins in VST for reasons of compatibility with earlier versions.

  • How many types of GRM Tools are there ?

There are currently 19 types of tools, divided into 4 collections:

    GRM Tools Classic

    • BandPass
    • CombFilters
    • Delays
    • Doppler
    • PitchAccum
    • Reson
    • Shuffling

    GRM Tools ST

    • Contrast
    • Equalize
    • Shift
    • Warp

    GRM Tools Evolution

    • Evolution
    • Fusion
    • Grinder

    GRM Tools Spaces

    • Spaces
    • SpaceFilter
    • SpaceGrain
    • Spaces3D
  • What are the environments supported

The GRM Tools are compatible with the Audio Unit, AAX  and VST in 32 and 64 bits, and are also available as “stand alone” applications.
From version 3.8, RTAS versions are no longer available. If you want to use them, download versions 3.7.4 or earlier.
From version 3.9 Mac, 32 bits versions are no longer available. If you want to use them, download versions 3.8 or earlier.

  • Are GRM Tools compatible with all audio applications

The GRM Tools have been tested with the main applications available on the market. However it is possible that some incompatibilities remain with certain applications. We therefore recommend that you download the demo versions, and check that they function correctly on your system before buying the validations.

    Known incompatibilities :

    • The Audio Suite versions are available only with ProTools 10 and higher
    • The Audio Unit versions are not compatible with Final Cut Pro
    • AAX versions are not compatible with Dolby Atmos Production Suite

Use

  • How can I save the parameters of plugins ?

There are two modes for the safeguard and management of parameters:

    • Using the sequencer or the host application (presets in ProTools, presets in Nuendo, etc.)
    • With the Save and Load buttons on the GRM Tools plugins interface.

The second method enables the exchange of adjustments from one environment to another. For example, settings made with ProTools can be used with Cubase.

Caution: the two methods are mutually incompatible. For example, a ProTools preset cannot be reloaded with the plugin interface Load button.

  • What is the latency of each plugin ?

    GRM Tools Classic:

The minimum latency is equal to the duration of the processing buffer of the host application.

GRM Tools ST and GRM Tools Evolution:

ST processing is based on the Fourier transform. Latency is equal to the greatest of the following values:

    • processing buffer duration
    • transform duration. For example: 4096 points at 44.1 kHz give a delay of 93 ms.

These values are taken into account automatically in sequencers which support latency correction.
